Zaragoza, Spain’s Intolerance are back with a brand new record Waking Nightmares Of An Endless Void two years after their independently released debut Dark Paths Of Humanity. This bruising quartet have chest-burst their way back onto the scene by delivering some torso tearing death metal in the ilk of Sinister, Grave, Asphyx and Vader, they also couple that with some mid-tempo stomps that help build that grim atmosphere that this pat tucker just loves to soak up! Interested? Well, you oughta be! So, keep reading and while you’re at it, go pick it up! This one is out now via Memento Mori and Godz Ov War.

Waking Nightmares Of An Endless Void is a haunting and captivating journey into the sonic depths of darkness. Straight from the moment the intro track kicks in, listeners are plunged into the group’s deathly landscape of despair and sorrow.

Don’t worry, this isn’t some drawn out soundscape that takes eight minutes to get to the business. Within just a minute, you’re being turned into human soup via the killer Fade Into Oblivion that introduces you to the album’s raw and gritty production. Each song is a carefully crafted slab of gloom and doom. Moontower Studios did a great job of allowing all members to shine individually which adds to the overall sense of quality without sacrificing that grim and foreboding tone.

The murk laden atmosphere is perfectly complemented by the intense and anguished vocals spewed out by frontman Pedro Moscatel, they sound like they’re being blasted out of the crypt where these vicious Spaniards dwell. Standout tracks include the trudging mid-tempo skull crusher Devourer Of Worlds or the earlier mentioned Fade Into Oblivion, both of which showcase Intolerance’s ability to create music that is powerful, varied and most of all engaging.

Overall, for Waking Nightmares Of An Endless Void if I was being hyper critical then you shouldn’t go into this expecting the next level of death metal or something truly unique otherwise, hey… it might not be for you. They are not reinventing the wheel. However, if, like me, you dig high quality death metal then you’ll dig this and surely want to add it to your collection. Hat’s off Intolerance, great job on this one!
